Town of Oliver and Rural Domestic Water System Customers Stage 2 Water Restrictions Take Effect

Effective immediately Town of Oliver and Rural Domestic Water System Customers move from Stage 3 to Stage 2 Water Restrictions, and Stage 1 restrictions are being removed for irrigation customers.

Drought conditions and Water Scarcity reported by the province show our region remains in Drought Level 4 and a High Water Scarcity Level, however our wells have recharged enough to justify the decrease in Water Restrictions to Stage 2.

Town of Oliver Water and Rural Domestic Water System customers will now move to Stage 2 Water Restrictions. Properties that have water flowing through a water meter, or are using domestic groundwater for irrigating, must continue to restrict their irrigation based on house numbering. Properties with multiple units per civic address, such as mobile home parks, should base their irrigation on their unit number where possible.

Current Water Restrictions are outlined below:

Watering may take place for no more than 2 hours on each permitted irrigation day and only between the hours of 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Watering Restrictions – Two Days Per Week:
- Odd numbered addresses on Wednesday, and Saturday
- Even numbered addresses on Tuesday, and Friday

Watering Restrictions for Micro-Irrigation and Drip-Irrigation Systems:

Micro-Irrigation and Drip-Irrigation Systems may run for an additional day per week due to their increased efficiency. Additional watering days must be limited to only such systems.
• Odd numbered addresses bonus day Monday
• Even numbered addresses bonus day Sunday

Watering Restrictions – Additional Day for Micro/Drip:
Odd numbered houses – Saturday
Even numbered houses – Tuesday

Food producing plants are excluded from these restrictions.

Hand watering is also permitted outside of the prescribed watering days.

Public Works Crews and Bylaw Enforcement are visiting properties who may be in violation of the water restrictions. Non-compliant properties can be fined $250 through Bylaw Notice Enforcement Bylaw 1410, with a $125.58 fee applied if water service has been turned off.
